State and local officials are reacting to Intel's announcement that the company was slowing construction on its $28 billion New Albany project in Licking County.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan made the announcement in a note to employees on the company's second-quarter earnings.

Bruce Foster III is accused of killing two people and injuring four in a February workplace shooting at the cosmetics production facility KDC/ONE in New Albany. A Licking County judge ruled he will undergo psychiatric care for up to a year before he can stand trial.

Biotech company Amgen said it is adding 350 jobs to the manufacturing plant, which opened in 2024.

Reuters cited a report in The Information, an online tech site. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker, would take a 20% stake in the new company.

In a statement to ÍøÆغÚÁÏ, Intel said it remains "fully committed to Ohio and the Silicone Heartland project." The project is estimated to cost around $28 billion.
