Columbus and dozens of other cities filed a federal lawsuit after the Trump administration said it would pull money from "sanctuary cities." Columbus has not declared itself a sanctuary city.

The Trump administration this week put 500 locations referred to as "sanctuary jurisdictions" on notice that they are believed to be obstructing federal immigration laws.

Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther's office said on Monday that fewer than 1,000 people were affected.

Columbus City Council's Public Safety Committee provided an update into several of the city's "alternative response teams" that they hope can be alternatives to police.
